KBCI Weather Forecast

Friday's High
: 60

Friday's Low: 36

Updated November 20th 7:45 a.m.

The winds will continue to be strong through Friday evening with speeds ranging from 20 to 40 mph from the east-southeast direction.   Driving to Utah for the game will be a challenge with the headwind.  Clouds will build into the area Friday Night with the leading edge of rain showers spreading into western Idaho  by Friday evening.

Temperatures will be on the mild side with highs in the mid 50s to around 60 in Boise on Friday but they'll come crashing down Friday night as a cold front moves through.   I'm concerned with the rain showers changing to snow after midnight making for some slick travel especially in between Boise and Twin Falls.

Any lingering light snow/flurries will end early Saturday morning with minor accumulations.  Temperatures on Saturday will be in the 30s to low 40s and dropping into the upper 20s to low 30s Saturday night.  This will set the stage for a stronger system to move in  Sunday.  This will be a very interesting weather forecast that will justify the old saying, "If you don't like the weather wait ten minutes".

The precipitation looks to start as snow and then mix and change to rain with allot of wind.  However during the day Sunday there will be what we meteorologists call some upper level support that will move over southern Idaho.   It's like a piece of energy in the atmosphere that if tracks directly over the area can increase the cooling in the atmosphere.  When this happens there could be another round of snow that develops in the Treasure Valley Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening.

How much will fall in the Treasure Valley?   The two predominate computer forecast models are different on this so far.  One has us with minor accumulations.   The other has us getting two to four inches.

The model with the heavier scenario typically is overdone with the snow amounts in the Treasure Valley in situations like this.  So my gut is leaning towards one to two inches with the mix to rain at times.  And that of course is subject to change due to the track of the storm.

The mountains will get some good snow totals when all is done Sunday night.  Ten plus inches are possible in some areas!
