Idaho Trails Going to the Dogs

The smell of fresh air, the sound of crunching snow, and the cool breeze on your face. It's heaven for nordic skiiers, and even more so for their dogs, but in many places they aren't welcome.

Blaine County is not one of those places. The Sun Valley area was on the leading edge of developing pet friendly trails, and they have no shortage of eager paws and pet lovers.

Blaine County and Sun Valley charge for dog passes that get you access to more than 30 kilometers of dog-friendly trails. They also have over a hundred kilometers of additional cross country ski trails that are off-limits for pets. The Sun Valley Nordic Center is looking at expanding their pet trails next year.

Last year, the county sold more than eight hundred dog passes which give access to county and Sun Valley Resort trails.
